Jeanette Olsson

writer
Between 1997 and 2002, Jeanette was one of Sweden's most sought-after session singers. These were the Cheiron years, the era of the Swedish hit explosion, and Jeanette soon found herself doing backing vocals and recording demos for almost every major international pop artist at the time. Jeanette's vocals has appeared on tracks by artists such as Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Santana, LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Simpson, Samantha Mumba, Christina Milian, Mya, Steps, Ronan Keating, A-Teens, Solid Harmonie, Atomic Kitten, Gareth Gates, Will Young, Play and many more. When progressing as a vocal producer, Jeanette finds inspiration from years as a backing vocalist. This forms the foundation, and it's what makes her understand exactly what the singer needs.- I have a strong vision. The ability to communicate to the singer and make the singer feel comfortable and trusting are the most important elements of the production process. It's all about confidence and trust.
Jeanette compares writing songs to solving a crossword puzzle. She is analytical and solution-oriented and at the same time very intuitive. She does not dwell, moving onward, forward, on to the next. When writing, Jeanette looks to strike a balance between "weird chords and straightforward melodies" and she'll often use words that "stand out, that make the listener sit up straight in her chair". While pop oriented and commercial, she is always striving to create the most beautiful melodies, the best hooks, Jeanette Olsson never takes the easy route.
Jeanette describes her songs as "accessible and versatile", and mentions that the most important characteristic is that it "reaches out and touches" the listener.
As her mentors, Jeanette credits Andreas Carlsson, Jörgen Elofsson and Desmond Child.
- All three have meant a lot to me creatively and given me inspiration and support through the years.
Born in a family where music was an important element, Jeanette has been singing since she was a child. Working with music was not an active choice; there were never any other options. After attending a high school for the performing arts, Jeanette went on to singing in a gospel choir, and since she started to sing professionally full time in 1993, she has never looked back.
